Brian Wood Champions The Local Hero Campaign By L&S Waste Management

There has never been a greater need than now for local “heroes” who can go the extra mile to support their communities. It is why L&S Waste Management is organising a campaign to recognise local heroes in Portsmouth and Southampton who leave no stone unturned to help uplift their community. A hero can be anyone. Whether it is someone who raises money for good causes, someone who regularly volunteers for a charity, or someone who does something as simple as helping vulnerable children or buying shopping for elderly or disabled neighbours. Anyone who puts in the time and effort to make their local community a better, kinder place to live deserves to have their efforts recognised and rewarded. In this case, the winner will get the Ultimate Pamper Weekend for two at a local hotel and spa resort. The prize will include a two-night stay, dinner, bed and breakfast, and a pampering spa treatment.

The founder of Keep Attacking, Brian Wood MC, has been appointed as the campaign ambassador to judge and pick the best out of all the nominees. Being a former Colour Sergeant of the Hampshire based Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, who has been awarded the Military Cross for gallantry in combat following his tour of Iraq, Brian is the perfect example of a hero who goes above and beyond his duty for the safety and betterment of others. Apart from his military exploits, Brian has also completed his Ultimate Sacrifice Challenge, raising over £160,000 for charity while running 25 marathons in 25 consecutive days.

Nominations for the L&S Local Hero campaign can be submitted between the 1st of February 2022 and the 31st of July 2022. Along with Brian Wood MC, the judging panel will also include the L&S Waste Management team, who will collectively review the nominations in the first two weeks of August and announce the winner by the end of the month. Nominees must be from the SO or PO postcode area and have contributed in some way to their local community either in their personal or professional lives. They can be of any age, although to claim the Pamper Weekend Prize they must be 16 or over.
