Brian Wood Awarded With Freedom of Town Honour

Keep Attacking is all about overcoming whatever adversity life throws at you, never giving up, and emerging strong on the other side, a better version of yourself – a philosophy lived and promulgated by our founder Brian Wood MC. A former Colour Sergeant, who was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry in combat for his courageous leadership in Iraq, Brian has experienced it all and emerged a winner. His efforts and life story have been an inspiration for many. It is why he was recently awarded the prestigious Freedom of Town by the Whitehill Town Council on 31st March 2022.

Having grown up in the town, which he still calls home, Brian was deeply honoured to have received the award from the mayor. He praised the undying and united spirit of the community, saying “when the going gets tough, this community always sticks together.” He also added that he felt fortunate to represent the town and humbled to receive the Freedom of Town scroll, which he said, “will take pride and place in my house.”

Everyone in attendance was delighted to see their local town hero get bestowed with the honour. And for good reason. Brian’s heroism and courage have never been limited to the battlefield. Apart from founding an inspiring fitness wear brand, he has constantly been involved in various humanitarian efforts, including recently transporting valuable aid to the Ukrainian people fleeing the war. He frequently organises and runs marathons for charitable causes like running 25 marathons in 25 days, in support of the armed forces charity Walking With The Wounded in November 2021. The marathon was a tribute to the memory of the 635 soldiers who died in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Freedom of Town honour was one of many such awards that Brian has received over the years and is a testament to his endurance, strength, perseverance, and attitude towards life.
